Modi Government 2019 Cabinet Member List 2019 PDF file

BJP chief Amit Shah made an entry into the Union Cabinet even as outgoing External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who was reported to have received a call in the morning, was not made a part of the new Modi government. Surprisingly, former foreign secretary S Jaishankar was inducted into the incoming cabinet.

Cabinet Ministers: 

Rajnath Singh: Rajnath Singh is a senior leader of the BJP and has served as the party president from 2005 to 2009 and 2013 to 2014. He had reached the zenith of state politics in 2000 when he briefly served as the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh

Amit Shah: Amit Shah, who contested 2019 general election from Gandhinagar constituency in Gujarat, defeated C J Chavda of the Congress by a margin of over 5.5 lakh votes. Shah, known for his organizational skills, is credited for the BJP's historic win in 2014 and 2019. 

Nitin Gadkari: BJP leader Nitin Gadkari, who contested from Nagpur constituency in Maharashtra, defeated Nana Patole of the Congress by a margin of 2,16,009 votes. In 2014, Gadkari won the seat by a margin of 2,84,848 votes. He served as the Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation in the first term of the Modi government.

DV Sadananda Gowda: BJP leader Sadananda Gowda served as the  Minister of Statistics and Programme Implementation in the Government of India in the Narendra Modi cabinet from 2014 to 2019. He won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Bangalore North. 

Nirmala Sitharaman: She is a member of the Rajya Sabha and she also served as the defence minister in the first term of the Modi government. She is India's second female defence minister. She has served as the Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs under the Ministry of Finance and the Minister for Commerce and Industry with independent charge.

Ram Vilas Paswan: The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief served as the Cabinet Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. He has been an eight-time Lok Sabha member and former Rajya Sabha MP. 

Narendra Singh Tomar: He outperformed Ramniwas Rawat of the Congress by a margin of 1,13,341 votes in Morena constituency of Madhya Pradesh. He served as the Minister of Rural Development, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Panchayati Raj and Mines in the Modi government.

Ravi Shankar Prasad: Ravi Shankar Prasad held the law and justice, and electronics and information technology portfolios in the first term of Narendra Modi government. Prasad, who contested the 2019 Lok Sabha election from the Patna Sahib constituency in Bihar, defeated Congress' Shatrughan Sinha by a margin of 2,84,657 votes. 

Harsimrat Kaur Badal: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Harsimrat Kaur served as the Minister for Food Processing in the first term of the Narendra Modi government. Kaur defeated Amrinder Singh Raja Warring of the Congress in Bhatinda constituency of Punjab by a margin of 21772 in the 2019 general elections.

Thawarchand Gehlot: Dr. Thawar Chand Gehlot served as the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment in the NDA Government. Currently, he represents Madhya Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha. 

S Jaishankar: Subrahmanyam Jaishankar served as the foreign secretary till 2018. He has also served as envoy to China in the past. Jaishankar, who is presently with Tata Group, is likely to be sworn in today. 

Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank': The BJP leader has served as the CM of Uttarakhand from 2009 to 2011. Nishank, who has authored several books in Hindi, won the Lok Sabha elections from Haridwar. 

Arjun Munda: Arjun Munda has served as the former chief minister of Jharkhand. He won the Khunti Lok Sabha seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha election. 

Smriti Irani: Smriti Zubin Irani has had quite a journey from being a reigning soap star to the political 'giant killer' who defeated Congress chief Rahul Gandhi in his bastion Amethi. In the previous Modi Cabinet, Irani served three departments - Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), Minister of Information and Broadcasting and the Ministry of Textiles. 

Dr. Harsh Vardhan: BJP leader Harsh Vardhan served as a minister at Ministry of Science and Technology (India), Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and Ministry of Earth Sciences in the first term of the Modi government. He won the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha seat, defeating Jai Prakash Agarwal of the Congress by a margin of 2,28,145 votes.

Prakash Javadekar: Prakash Javadekar was given charge of the Human Resource Development Ministry in 2016 and was also the Minister State (Independent Charge) for Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and briefly held the portfolio of Information and Broadcasting.

Piyush Goyal: Piyush Goyal, who served as the minister of railways and the minister of coal in the Government of India in the recently concluded term of the Narendra Modi government. He was also the minister of state (independent charge) for power, coal, new and renewable energy (2014-2017) and mines (2016-17). He is a member of the Rajya Sabha. 

Dharmendra Pradhan: BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan served as the Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship in the NDA Government from 2014 to 2019. He presently represents Madhya Pradesh in Rajya Sabha. 

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi: Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi became Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs on 26 May 2014 in Narendra Modi government. After the resignation of Najma Heptulla in 2016, he got independent charge of the Ministry of Minority Affairs.

Pralhad Joshi: BJP leader Pralhad Joshi has been the member of the Lok Sabha since 2009. He represents Dharwad constituency in the Lower House. 

Mahendra Nath Pandey: He served as the Uttar Pradesh BJP chief. He also served as the Minister of State (MoS) for HRD Ministery in the 2014 NDA government, before quitting the post to serve as the state unit chief in Uttar Pradesh. 

Arvind Sawant: Sawant served as the MP of Mumbai South from 2014 to 2019. He defeated Mumbai Congress chief Milind Deora from Mumbai South constituency in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. 

Giriraj Singh: The veteran BJP leader defeated CPI(M) candidate Kanhaiya Kumar from Begusarai in Bihar. 

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat: The BJP leader defeated Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot's son Vaibhav Gehlot from Jodhpur Lok Sabha seat. He served as the former Minister of State for Agriculture. 

Ministers of State (Independent Charge): 

Santosh Kumar Gangwar: The BJP leader served as the Minister of State with independent charge in the Ministry of Labour and Employment in the NDA government in 2014 to 2019. He has won polls from Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly. He happens to be a prominent OBC face of the party. 

Rao Inderjit Singh: Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh is a former shooter. He served as Minister of State (Independent Charge) Planning, Statistics and Programme Implementation; Defence and and Chemicals and Fertilisers during the first term of Modi government. 

Shripad Naik: North Goa MP served as the Union Minister of State for AYUSH. He has also served as a Union Minister of State in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. 

Dr Jitendra Singh: BJP leader Jitendra Singh served as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, Minister of State for Prime Minister's Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy, and Department of Space. He won the Udhampur Lok Sabha seat, outperforming Vikramaditya Singh of the Congress by a margin of 3,57,252 votes.

Kiren Rijiju: He is the face of the BJP in North East India and was the MoS for Home Affairs in the previous Modi government. In 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he registered a massive victory from Arunachal West Constituency by winning the seat with a record number of votes.

Prahlad Patel: He won the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Madhya Pradesh' Damoh. He also served as a minister of state for coal in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. 

RK Singh: He emerged as the winner from Arrah constituency in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Bihar. 

Hardeep Puri: The BJP leader has been a member of Rajya Sabha since 2018. A career diplomat, he has served as Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in the outgoing government.

Mansukh Mandviya: The BJP leader from Gujarat served as Union Minister of State in charge of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Ministry of Shipping and Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. He is famous for often riding his cycle to the Parliament. 

Ministers of State: 

Faggan Singh: The BJP leader served as the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare in the outgoing government. He represents Mandla constituency from Madhya Pradesh in the Lok Sabha. 

Ashwini Kumar Chaubey: He served as the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare in the first term of Modi government. He has been a former health minister of Bihar. 

Arjun Ram Meghwal: BJP leader Arjun Ram Meghwal defeated Congress' Madan Gopal Meghwal in Bikaner constituency of Rajasthan by a margin of 2,64,081 votes. He had won the seat in 2014 by a margin of 3,08,079 votes. He served as the Union Minister of State in Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation and Parliamentary Affairs in first term of Modi government.

VK Singh: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader General (retd.) Vijay Kumar Singh, who served as the minister of state for external affairs in the first tenure of the Narendra Modi government, was re-elected to the 17th Lok Sabha from Ghaziabad constituency in Uttar Pradesh. Singh outperformed Suresh Bansal of the Samajwadi Party by a margin of 5,01,500 votes. 

Kisan Pal Gujjar: He served as the MoS for Social Justice and Environment in the first term of the Modi-led NDA government. 

Raosahab Danve: He has served as the Maharashtra BJP chief. 

Kishan Reddy: The BJP leader won the Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat in Telangana with a massive margin. 

Parshottam Rupala:  He has served as the Union Minister of State for Panchayati Raj, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. He has represented Gujarat in Rajya Sabha. 

Ramdas Athawale: He is the chief of the Republican Party of India. And he has served Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment in the Modi government. 

Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti:  She served as the Minister of State for Food Processing Industries in November 2014. 

Babul Supriyo: The BJP leader won the Asansol Lok Sabha constituency against TMC's Moon Moon Sen. He served as Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises. 

Sanjeev Kumar Baliyan: He is a prominent Jat leader from Muzaffarnagar Lok Sabha seat.

Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre

Anurag Thakur: He is the son of former CM of Himachal Pradesh Prem Kumar Dhumal. The 44-year-old BJP leader defeated Congress' Ram Lal Thakur from Hamirpur with a margin of 3.8 lakh votes. 

Suresh Angadi: Angadi is a four-time member of Lok Sabha from Belgaum. He belongs to the dominant Lingayat community from the state and is an educationist. He is credited for boosting BJP's base in North Karnataka.

Rattan Lal Kattaria: Rattan Lal Kattaria is a two-time MP from Haryana. His appointment is being viewed in light of forthcoming Assembly elections in the state, where the appointment of a Dalit leader is expected to have a significant impact.

V Murleedharan: V Murleedharan is the sole minister from Kerala. His appointment is being viewed as a signal to the party cadre in the state where the BJP is keen on making inroads. 

Renuka Singh Saruta: An influential tribal face from Chhattisgarh, Renuka Singh Saruta is the first woman MP from Sarguja. A former minister in the Raman Singh government, she is considered an aggressive tribal woman politician from the state.

Som Prakash: Som Prakash is an MP from Hoshiarpur in Punjab. 

Rameswar Teli: Rameswar Teli is a two-time MP from Dibrugarh Lok Sabha constituency. In 2014, Teli defeated Congress strongman and five-time MP Paban Singh Ghatowar.

Pratap Chandra Sarangi: Pratap Chandra Sarangi became a favourite of social media when images of him packing bags for New Delhi after winning the Lok Sabha elections went viral. He is known as Odisha's Modi for his simplicity.

Kailash Choudhary: Kailash Choudhary defeated Manvendra Singh, the son of Jaswant Singh who contested as a Congress candidate.

Debasree Chaudhuri: MP from Raiganj, West Bengal. Debasree defeated TMC's Agarwal Kanaialal by 60574 votes.
